Last Band Of Brothers Blog!

Chapter 18 is basically the last chapter of the book. Chapter 19 just talks about what the lives of the people are like after the war. But chapter 18 takes place in Austria where the book finishes out. The men are now about ready to go home since the war is over for them. They are super happy that they no longer have to fight or die. I really want to watch the whole series on TV now because this was a really good book to read.

Band Of Brothers Chapter 17

So this chapter starts out with the description of Hitler's Eagle Nest. It has some of the most valuable things you could think of in there and everyone wants to be the first there to loot the place. Winters is told to go set up a command post in one of the German houses. They tell the people they have 15 mins to get out. They don't get out so he storms in and takes over the house. Asked about how he felt about this he said he didn't feel anything after what they have done to the Americans and the conditions they stayed in.

Band Of Brothers Chapter 16

So the men are advancing more and finishing up all of the little stuff. On one guard post though some men were not informed that some of the other soldiers were going to be taking a boat across. when they heard the people in the water they opened fired and killed all of them. Deaths were mistaken identity took place were not to uncommon. More men got promoted and more men got sent back as most were not career military. They was also a parade that the men put on for General Eisenhower.

Band Of Brothers Chapter 15

So in this chapter the men move into Germany. They are not really fighting with them but instead living with them and protecting the town. The men said they liked really liked living with the Germans because they were really close to how they lived. The men missed home so that would have to be really nice for them. Other then that the men are running through training exercises

Band Of Brothers Chapter 14

In chapter 14 the men still face battle. It is not as intense but the are still fighting and losing people. They are cleaning up and trying to finish everything. At night they describe all the firing as the 4th of July. There were so  many lights and sounds in the sky it was unbelievable. The men received letters also which boosted their moral a little. Finally the men of easy were told they were to head back and someone else would be on the front line. It was nice being able not to have to be on the front and be in a constant battle. Some of the men could not handle it and wanted liquor. They went out and got some and when they came back they were really drunk and started trouble. The mens attitude were down but their hopes that it was almost over and they did not have to survive for to much longer was a good feeling.

Band Of Brothers Chapter 13

Chapter 13 is another chapter where the men are able to rest a little more and they go off into another battle. They are getting tired of the same thing over again but they keep fighting because there is no one else that is left to fight. Easy has took many damages and really should not be fighting anymore because of this. The men are at least becoming better equipped now as they get the winter gear six weeks late. After their last battle they have become famous for the unrealistic victory over the Germans.  The men have been through a lot and it does not seem like they will be able to do much more now.

I was reading about the two winners of the Mega Million jackpot and I decided to blog about it. There were a total of two winers. One one 380 million, second largest ever. The largest was in 2007 and it was 390 million. The other person won 190 million which still isn't a small sum. My question is what would you do with all that money. Yes the government takes a lot of it for themselves but still that is so much money. The big winner is going to appear today on TV but the other one has not come forward yet.

Band Of Brothers Chapter 12

In this chapter the mean get into another battle. The end up losing more men and taking longer then they should have to beat the enemy because of poor leadership. Winters, the previous C.O., was about to run out into the middle of the battle to take control. But halfway their he decided he couldn't do this in the position he was on. So on his way back he met Spires. He told him to go and take leadership over the company. He went down and was able to lead them to a victory and get them out of there. In the end though, because of leadership, they ended up loosing way to many men.

Band Of Brothers Chapter 11

Chapter 11 picks up with a lot more excitement. The men move into these towns and set up a perimeter. they have weak lines as they are outnumber and not supplied very well. They later find out that they are completely surrounded and cut off from the outside world. They wouldn't get any supplies in by road because of this and also the weather was bad so they were not able to get anything by air. The men were not equipped very well at all. Low on ammo, food, and clothing. These men were out in the woods sitting there with barley anything to keep them warm and dry. Towards the end the finally break through and are able to get supply trucks and and breakout.

Band Of Brothers Chapter 10

In chapter 10 then soldiers are finally able to take a break and relax for once. This was a good thing but the men found themselves not being able to sit still for to long and wanting to do something. They created football teams and started to gamble and drink even more than usual. This caused a lot of problems when they went into towns on a pass so they stopped handing out the passes. Towards the end the they get called out to hold another town that the Germans are launching a surprise attack on.

This book was a book someone suggest I read so I read it over break. This book was a book about people who were harmed for their faith but did not change their ways and beliefs for others or to save their own life. It has a bunch of short stories that go through all of time and up to the present. It is a really good book that can strengthens someones faith and makes you think about yours more personally. It is also kinda hard to read because of the disturbing things people go through.
One story that I really like was about a man named Thomas Hawker. He knew he was going to be burned at the stake because he refused to stray. The day before this was going to happen a man came up to him and told him to raise his hands tomorrow if he was still at peace after going through all that pain. When he was burned the next day he was all black and piratically a crisp. Everyone thought he was surely dead but all of a sudden he raised his hands. He clapped his hands together three times and then died. All of the people were very surprised and started shouting praises.
Another story that I thought was cool is set in the more recent 1970 in the USSR. In this story there was a girl who was arrested and imprisoned for her faith. She was arrested by communist and was starved and beat daily a couple times a day. They were doing this because they wanted the names of the others believers. When the man came in she was able to tell that he was as tired of beating her as she was of being beat. When he was about to whip her she smiled at him. He stopped and asked her why she smiles. He told her about the man that she truly saw in him. He walked out of that prison that day a changed man.

These pages consisted of two different chapters. In these chapters the men faced more battles and made more advance. C.O. Winters was promoted to X.O. He didn't like it because it was more of in administrative position rather then being out in the field which he like be out in the field. There was not really to much new that happened in the story. The coolest part about the two chapters was when Winters was still a C.O. and he ran in front of about 20 Germans and unloaded three clips without getting hit once. He described it as being in slow motion and unreal. Even his comrades from the side did not believe it. The story is really good and a book I actually like.
